Type:

Part-time (Market day – Saturdays from bump in to bump out (e.g. 7am – 2pm) additional coordination hours during the week (work from home) avg. 20hrs per week.

Mundaring Garden and Farmers Market (MGFM) is a vibrant hub for the community to gather, connect, and celebrate local talent. With a wide array of fresh produce, artisan goods, and entertainment, we’re committed to promoting community connections and supporting local business.  The Mundaring Garden and Farmers Market is proudly owned and operated by the Mundaring Chamber of Commerce (not for profit organisation) supporting local business.  You will be a valued member of the Mundaring Chamber of Commerce team.

Job Description:

As the Market Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of the market. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Stallholder Coordination: Oversee vendor setup, placement, and adherence to market guidelines each Saturday.
  • Customer Engagement: Foster a positive market experience for customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Event Management: Assist with market setup, signage, and clean-up to maintain a clean and attractive market space.
  • Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety regulations and market policies, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Event Marketing: Use marketing and social media strategies to ensure each market is of value to our stallholders and members of the community who attend.
  • Market Growth:  Actively recruit stallholders to meet the optimal market mix with an increased focus on garden and farmer businesses.  Advertise and market the MGFM so stallholders are rewarded with high foot traffic and strong economic growth.
  • Financial Management: Coordinate the market budget ensuring financial goals remain on track.  Stallholder fee invoicing and collection.
  • Reporting: Maintain records of market operations and provide financial and operational reports to the Mundaring Chamber of Commerce.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Exceptional organisational, problem-solving abilities and conflict management skills.
  • Availability to work every Saturday.  Reliability and accountability are essential.
  • Previous experience in event management, market supervision, or a related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with local vendors and the community is an advantage.  The ideal candidate will be local or have local connections, or not be afraid to immerse themselves into the local community.
  • Interest and passion for garden and farmers markets and small business.
  • Excellent team leadership qualities with demonstrated experience in managing the competing needs of vendors, members of the public and the organising organisation.
  • Previous marketing experience and strong social media knowledge (including making content, sponsored posts, reporting on statistics).
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.  Work without supervision.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of food safety and regulatory requirements for food vendors.
  • Experience working with a volunteer not for profit committee.  You will be working with and on behalf of the Mundaring Chamber of Commerce. 
  • Physical requirements: Able to set up/pack down tables, chairs, marquees.  Able to walk the market during market hours. Ability to setup signage and packdown. Ability to lift marquee weights (10kg).
  • Current First Aid certificate would be highly regarded.
  • Ability to invoice and follow up on outstanding invoices, and trouble shoot POS/Square technology.
