September Sundowner Recap

On Wednesday the 22nd of September the Mundaring Arts Centre came alive with the buzz and chatter of local business owners, artists, Shire personnel and councillors.

The event was the Mundaring Chamber of Commerce, September Sundowner and the launch of the Mundaring Hills Open Studios Art Trail. It was very inspiring being in the Mundaring Arts Centre gallery, surrounded by a countless amount of beautiful, quality crafted art pieces. We really are blessed to have such a talented community around us.

During the evening, we heard from Jenny Haynes the Director of the Mundaring Art Centre and then Tina Bryce, Artist and Mundaring Hills Open Studios core team member. She told us about the history of the Art Trail, and what a significant event it is for our region. For the first time this year, it will be running over two weekends, not one, so plenty of opportunity to visit your favourite artisans.

The Art Trail has been going for 11 years now and has grown so much in that time from about 10 artists the first year to over 60 this coming October.

Our Artisan community will be in full swing at present, making their homes and galleries clean and welcoming, not to mention, frantically creating, so there is plenty of work for the public to view and hopefully even purchase.

I have already ear marked the ones I will be visiting over the Art Trail weekend and I encourage you to get yourself a glossy magazine that outlines all the open studios and start planning your trail. Only a few more weeks to go!
