Meet the 2020/2021 Chamber Committee

We are a diverse bunch of business owners, with a variety of backgrounds, skills and experience, but we’re united in our mission to make it easier to do business in the Shire of Mundaring in order to foster economic and social prosperity for the whole community. Ask anyone on the Committee and they will tell you this is the reason they volunteer their time for the Chamber.

We meet on a monthly basis and are involved in ongoing projects and tasks that aim to achieve our vision; to make the Shire of Mundaring a first-class community to live and do business.

Patrick Bertola – President

Patrick Bertola is owner, director, manager, licensee and general operative at Lion Mill Vineyards, situated in Mount Helena, where hand-picked, speciality grapes produce premium & affordable wines.

Patrick is a historian and retired academic, specialising in historical and social science research methods. His historical writing covers OH&S, migrant and mining history, especially the economic, political and labour history of the East Coolgardie Goldfield in WA.

Patrick also served as an elected member (councillor) for the East Ward of the Shire of Mundaring and as a nominated Shire member for the East Metropolitan Development Assessment Panel.

As well as chairing Mundaring Chamber of Commerce, Patrick is also a member of the Sawyers Valley Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade.

Karen Beale – Vice President

Karen Beale is owner and director of Love Your Community Business Solutions (LYC Business Solutions), dedicated to building sustainable communities by providing great compliance and dynamic connections.

Prior to starting her own business in December 2019, Karen was Executive Officer for Mundaring Community Bank Branch Bendigo Bank & The Treehouse Business Centre, Mundaring for 9 years.

Karen has a Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting and has extensive experience in bookkeeping and accounting services. Karen is passionate about connecting community and among other projects, has been responsible for the Bendigo Bank’s role in the hugely popular Rotary Twilight Markets, held annually in Mundaring.

T’Anne Mills – Secretary

T’Anne Mills is co-owner, director and licensee of The Parkerville Tavern.

Prior to being owner of The Parky, T’Anne was a specialist business and IT consultant with experience across a broad range of systems with well-developed skills in business process analysis, project management, web design, web development and software implementation. 

T’Anne qualified with a BSc from Murdoch in 1998 and almost immediately jumped into the IT industry. After gaining more than 20 years experience in assisting organisations develop software to meet business requirements and providing a high level of communication to bring clarity to projects for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, T’Anne switched professions and runs the popular Perth Hills heritage venue, The Parkerville Tavern.

T’Anne’s specialties include: application development, business management, business process, consulting, software design and documentation, project management, project planning, software development, website design and development and now, managing all facets of a busy hospitality business!!

Evelyn Kelly – Treasurer

Evelyn Kelly is owner and director of E Kelly Accounting Services.

Evelyn is a qualified accountant providing accounting services to self employed professionals and small business owners. Evelyn is experienced in recording day-to-day transactions, invoicing, paying bills, payroll, bank and credit card reconciliations, facilitation of BAS and Quickbooks online setup.

Evelyn thrives on her strong desire to improve processes, up-to-date books and on-time reports and possesses strong work ethics, working efficiently and effectively as online or onsite accountant/bookkeeper.

Morgan Holmes – Committee Member

Morgan Holmes is a solution finder, small business mentor, coach and facilitator.

With a unique combination of skills gained through 30+ years corporate & small business experience, ranging from human resources, group facilitation, change management, leadership coaching, organisational transformation, project management, team management, operations planning, and business analysis & planning, Morgan can relate to most.

Morgan’s diverse experience enables her to support business owners to find the right SOLUTIONS for their business. She will listen carefully to understand their perspective and then work with them to develop unique solutions and take action.

Morgan believes we can all make a difference, and we should try.  She is passionate about what she does and puts her heart and soul into it. Morgan is a ‘can do’ person, and will always as ask ‘Why not?’ instead of ‘ Why?’  

Francesca Flynn – Committee Member

Francesca Flynn is the owner and sole Director of Evergreen Consultancy WA.

Evergreen is a boutique Hills-based consultancy specialising in project planning, management, and funding. It has several arms, including business management; tourism; development and planning; environmental science; marketing; funding and grants; and more. Clients include Araluen Botanic Park, Chalet Rigi, Kalamunda Mountain Bike Collective, Go Cultural Aboriginal Tours and Experiences, Catalina Airlines, One Degree Advisory, Kalamunda United Football Club and Saferight.

Prior to establishing Evergreen, Francesca managed the Perth Observatory in Kalamunda, successfully securing funding of $1 million and winning tourism and science awards in just 18 months. She initiated and developed the flagship Aboriginal Astronomy Centre, Worl Wangkiny, and helped establish the first training program for Aboriginal tour guides in the Perth Hills in partnership with Koya Aboriginal Corporation.

Francesca is passionate about supporting local projects and she volunteers as Board member of the Mundaring Chamber, the Mundaring Tourism Sub-Committee, the Kalamunda Tourism Advisory Group, the Saferight Advisory Board and the Kalamunda Mountain Bike Collective. In May 2018, Francesca chaired the Kalamunda Tourism Community Reference Group for the City of Kalamunda, successfully leading their community engagement process and authoring the Kalamunda Tourism Development Strategy 2019-2025.

Francesca is a Principal Environmental Scientist with over 13 years’ experience in site assessment and management and a qualified Project Manager. She previously held the position of Manager of the WA Geoscience and Remediation Business Unit at AECOM, a leading engineering conglomerate, where she led a team of 30 scientist engineers and managed a project portfolio valued at over $15 million annually. She graduated from Manchester University with a MSc in Environmental Science in 2017 and also holds a BSc in Environmental Science and a BSc in Psychology.

In creating Evergreen, Francesca wanted to offer a professional consultant service to share her extensive experience in project planning and management and help businesses achieve their goals.

Dean Roberts – Committee Member

Dean Roberts is owner and managing director at Visionsafe Pty Ltd. VISIONSafe is a family business that has been located in Mundaring for more than 20 years. Vision Safe wholesales quality personal protective equipment with a range of products available via an extensive network of distributors both online and bricks-and-mortar stores throughout Australia, New Zealand and Worldwide.

Karen Mummery – Executive Officer (Part Time)

Karen Mummery started employment with the Chamber in 2017, while working part time for the Mundaring Visitor Centre. In November 2018, Karen decided to jump into small business and is the owner/ operator of ‘B Social Perth‘, a social media management business, specialising in tourism and hospitality.

Karen qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Tourism Management from the University of Plymouth in 1999 and her varied career has spanned many industries across two continents. She has worked in both the public and private sectors in Australia and the UK; in the travel & tourism industry, human resources (strategic and operational), recruitment, mining & resources, food & beverage/hospitality and most recently in the visitor servicing industry in her nine years living locally in Stoneville.

Karen is passionate about community participation, involvement and development and has brought her experience & dedication to many community organisations. Karen has held voluntary roles within several community groups including Treasurer for the Australian Breastfeeding Association, Secretary for the State Emergency Services (City of Stirling) and voluntary support worker for Ngala.
