Meet the 2018/2019 Chamber Committee

We are a diverse bunch of business owners, with a variety of backgrounds, skills and experience, but we’re united in our mission to make it easier to do business in the Shire of Mundaring in order to foster economic and social prosperity for the whole community. Ask anyone on the Committee and they will tell you this is the reason they volunteer their time for the Chamber.

Prior to the merger, Ruth was real estate principal at Elders Real Estate, Mundaring, which she owned with husband Edwin for more than 10 years.

As a busy mother of three, Ruth’s foray into real estate began when she agreed to help her husband Edwin in the office, after he bought a real estate business.  Her twin daughters were six-months-old at the time and looking back she recalls it was all a bit of a blur – but it was also the beginning of a new career direction for the self-confessed ‘people person’ who initially had carved out a career in human resource management in Canberra.

Ruth had an active role in establishing the Chamber and has been on the Chamber Committee for many years, including holding the positions of President and Secretary. Ruth believes it can only be good for a local business owner to join the Chamber, because not only does it raise their profile but also offers a great way to garner information due to its very social environment.

And for those people who are toying with the idea of starting their own business, Ruth says ‘go for it.’  As a rule I think people are very capable and sometimes you just have got to give it a go and if you make mistakes, just keep going
