Held every year on 21 March, Harmony Day is a celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.
The message of Harmony Day is ‘everyone belongs’. The day aims to engage people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster a sense of belonging for everyone.
The Shire of Mundaring and Mundaring Chamber of Commerce are encouraging local businesses in joining them in the celebration of Harmony Day in order to show commitment for cultural diversity across our community.
Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Day. There are many ways in which your local business can celebrate including:
- Encourage your staff to wear something orange
- Decorate work premises with an orange theme
- Have an orange themed window display
- Café’s, restaurants and food retailers could focus on cultural food and beverages
In order to showcase our business community’s celebrations on our website and Facebook page, as well as the Shire’s Facebook page, please either tag The Mundaring Chamber of Commerce in your Facebook post (@mundaringchamberofcommerce) or email a photograph of your event or activity to Karen Mummery at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are. It makes Australia a great place to live.
